Damon Davoudpour's professional career is vast and unique. Covering several industries, Damon's philosophy on one's professional career is to "be a sponge. Learn as much as you can in as many industries as you can. Be a jack of all trades."
Damon is a graduate from Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Finance in just over three years. When asked why he graduated early he said, "I wanted to get out, get a real job and starting making some money," though he jokes that he wishes he was on the "six year program" because he loved being a student at Florida State.
He began work as a Special Project Manager and Assistant Property Manager overseeing the construction of a brand new multi-use commercial building in Atlanta Georgia. Barely 21 years old, he was able to manage new tenant negotiations with companies like, The Capital Grille, Kreiss Collection and Credit Suisse First Boston.
Damon is the youngest of four children. He grew up in Marietta Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, where his family migrated to in the late 70's. He grew up heavily involved in sports, in particular football, soccer and in-line hockey. He describes his childhood as "picture-perfect."
"I had two loving parents that were firm, yet fair. We weren't rich, but we weren't poor. They provided me with a great life. They gave me the leniency to 'do what I wanted' within reason, but when I messed up, they definitely let me know about it. My childhood consistented of school and a ton of outdoor activities. Every opportunity I had to go outside and play, I would."
As a professional, Damon still has that childhood attitude that keeps him full of energy. He was a player for the Nashville Rugby Football Club until recently becoming the Head Coach. In addition to being the Head Coach, he's the Sevens Director, Social Chair and Webmaster for the Club. He also regularly plays competitive flag football and in-line hockey. Damon is also the Social Chair for the Nashville Seminoles Club.
True to his childhood roots, Damon "plays" in the woods whenever he can by ways of hiking, rock climbing, mountaineering, rafting, or mountain biking. He enjoys zipping around curves on his motorcycle. He has a soft spot in his heart for dogs and horses and while he doesn't have children, he loves them and believes that education is the key to a promising future.
Damon has dedicated countless hours of his time to raising money and hosting charitable events for organizations like the Boy Scouts of America-Learning for Life Navigators Program, the Metro Nashville Police Department Support Fund, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Academies of Nashville, My Future My Way Career Exploration Fair, Habitat for Humanity, Muscular Dystrophy, Association, No Kid Hungry, and Best Buddies.
Damon Davoudpour lives by a few motto's that has fueled him both professionally and personally:
"One Life-Live It"
"Go Big or Go Home"
"Make it Happen"
As a natural born, competitive leader, he focuses on winning. Damon has said that "winning can be defined in many ways, but someone once told me that winning is achieving the desired goals or results while living to the highest level of integrity. I wish that was my own, but it sure struck a chord with me."
He believes that life is too short to settle and that the moments in our lives are too precious to "sit around and do nothing." A capitalist, realist, philanthropist, humanitarian, extrovert, and over-all life enthusiast, Damon's passion for life is contagious.
After the tragic event of September 11, Damon's patriot duty lead him to enlist in the United States Army where he would go on to become a Commissioned Infantry Officer. When asked why he left a high-profile job and career path to becoming a wealthy, young professional, he stated, "I believe that every citizen owes some sort of service and obligation to this country." Damon was stationed in Ft. Benning Georgia where he successfully completed various Army schools, to include Officer Candidate School where he would earn his Commission as a First Lieutenant Infantry Officer. Damon would later become the Support Platoon Leader and Search and Rescue Team Leader as part of Joint Task Force-Bravo, a Counter-Narcotics and Humanitarian operation in Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. Between missions, Damon made time to become a sports talk radio show host on the Armed Forces Network while deployed in Honduras. He was honorably discharged with numerous Army medals and accommodations in December 2006
In January 2007, Damon went back to Corporate America and became a Commercial Lending Portfolio Manager with GMAC Financial in Denver, Colorado. He quickly was promoted ahead of his peers to a Senior Portfolio Manager where he would ultimately managed over 500 million dollars in assets. This lead to Damon being the lead Portfolio Manager for the Western United States during the Chrysler Financial bankruptcy where GMAC would ultimately take over the wholesale floorplans and loans of over 400 Chrysler Financial funded dealerships. When Damon took time away from managing over one-half billion dollars in assets, he was a College Sports Scout for National Scouting Report where he was able to combine his passion for sports and helping people by aiding high school student athletes in securing college sports scholarships.
A salesman and marketer by nature, yet a financial analyst by trade, Damon seized a unique opportunity in the Fall of 2010 when he accepted a position as the Manager of Corporate Marketing with Shoney's Restaurants in Nashville Tennessee. Having grown up in a family restaurant business, Damon joined a team that was on a mission to revive a once iconic restaurant brand. Within one year, he was promoted to Director of Marketing as a result of new initiatives and procedures implemented, to include introducing social media, email, and digital marketing campaigns as well as traceable and measurable local marketing efforts to the brand. Damon was the acting VP of Marketing since taking over the Director role and had been a part of the brands recent franchising development efforts until he resigned in 2016.
